Aluminium 6063 is an aluminium-silicon-magnesium alloy, typically composed of 0.2–0.6% silicon, 0.35% iron, 0.45–0.9% magnesium, along with trace elements of chromium, copper, manganese, titanium, and zinc. This alloy strikes a fantastic balance between strength, corrosion resistance, and workability. In its T6 temper, it boasts a tensile strength of around 190–240 MPa and a yield strength of 160–210 MPa, along with impressive elongation properties. Its smooth surface finish and fine grain structure make it perfect for precision forgings, where both mechanical performance and visual appeal are essential.

The forging process for Aluminium 5082 typically takes between 2 to 6 hours, depending on the complexity of the part, size, and the specific forging method used.
Aluminum 5082 offers high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, good weldability, and enhanced fatigue resistance, making it ideal for custom forgings in marine, aerospace, and structural applications.
Aluminum 5082's workability, characterized by good machinability and medium strength, allows for easy shaping during forging. However, its relatively low work hardening rate may require careful temperature control.
Aluminium 6063 forgings find extensive use in industries that require lightweight yet robust materials with a top-notch finish. You’ll often see them in architectural applications like window frames, door frames, and curtain walls, thanks to the alloy’s excellent anodising capabilities. In the transport and marine sectors, 6063 forgings are utilized for tubing, panels, and structural components, taking advantage of the alloy’s corrosion resistance and ease of fabrication. Starc Metals provides Aluminium 6063 forging solutions specifically designed to meet the demands of industries such as construction, automotive, aerospace, and irrigation systems, where performance and reliability are paramount.
