Aluminium 3003 is an alloy that mainly consists of aluminum (about 96.7–97.5%), manganese (1.0–1.5%), along with small amounts of copper, iron, and silicon. This non-heat-treatable alloy is celebrated for its good corrosion resistance, impressive workability, and moderate strength. The typical mechanical properties of 3003 forgings include a tensile strength ranging from 130–200 MPa and a yield strength of around 65–130 MPa, depending on the temper. With an elongation of up to 30%, it showcases remarkable ductility. These features make Aluminium 3003 forgings ideal for a variety of moderate-load structural applications.

Aluminum 3003 offers excellent corrosion resistance, good formability, lightweight, and high strength-to-weight ratio, making it ideal for custom forgings in industries like aerospace, automotive, and construction.
Aluminum 3003 is not ideal for high-temperature forging applications due to its low strength at elevated temperatures. It is more suitable for applications requiring good formability at moderate temperatures.
Aluminum 3003 has good workability, making it easy to forge. Its excellent formability allows for smooth shaping, but it requires careful temperature control to avoid material damage during forging.
Aluminium 3003 forgings are widely used in industries that demand lightweight materials with good corrosion resistance and moderate strength. Common applications include roofing sheets, siding, gutters, and downspouts in the construction industry. In transportation, they are used for truck and trailer roofing and paneling. The food and chemical industries rely on this alloy for storage tanks and piping due to its resistance to chemical corrosion. Additionally, it is used in HVAC components, cooking utensils, fuel tanks, and architectural applications. Its ease of fabrication and welding makes Aluminium 3003 a versatile and cost-effective choice for numerous commercial uses.
