Aluminium 1100 is a commercially pure grade, boasting at least 99% aluminium content. Its typical chemical makeup includes 0.12% copper, 0.20% iron, 0.45% silicon, 0.05% manganese, 0.05% zinc, along with trace elements. This alloy is known for its excellent corrosion resistance, high thermal and electrical conductivity, and good workability. In terms of mechanical properties, Aluminium 1100 has a tensile strength of about 90 MPa (13 ksi) and a yield strength of around 34 MPa (5 ksi), with an elongation of 35%. While it may be soft and not particularly strong, its lightweight and non-heat-treatable characteristics make it perfect for forming and forging applications.

Aluminum 1100 forging allows custom shapes like rings, discs, bars, flanges, stepped shafts, and intricate profiles, ideal for aerospace, automotive, and industrial applications requiring high corrosion resistance and ductility.
Aluminum 1100 is unsuitable for high-temperature forging applications due to its low melting point and poor strength at elevated temperatures, making it better suited for cold working or low-temperature uses.
Aluminum 1100 offers excellent corrosion resistance, high ductility, good thermal conductivity, lightweight properties, and exceptional workability, making it ideal for custom forgings requiring precise shapes and resistance to harsh environments.
Aluminium 1100 forgings find their way into a variety of industries thanks to their impressive corrosion resistance, ductility, and ease of fabrication. In aerospace, they’re often used for non-structural components like ducts and brackets. The food and chemical sectors prefer this material for equipment such as storage tanks and piping, given its purity and resistance to contamination. The electrical industry takes advantage of its high conductivity, making it ideal for bus bars and other conductive parts. Plus, Aluminium 1100 is commonly used in architectural applications, signage, and reflective surfaces where formability and corrosion resistance take precedence over strength.
